World Heritage: Humayun’s Tomb

May 10, 2017 by chinmayebhave

Outdoor shoots in Delhi = exploring a lot of heritage sites! This time on a not so busy day I decided to take a quick tour of one of the world heritage sites in the national capital … The 16th century Mughal masterpiece … A mausoleum that was made almost a century before the great Taj Mahal was built! The majestic Humayun’s tomb … A monument that is perhaps a prototype of Indo-Persian aesthetics. It is a monument built with […]

The Grandeur of Golkonda

May 7, 2017 by chinmayebhave

“Oh Wow! You travel so much for your job … you are damn lucky! You get to visit and explore so many places in India and abroad!” I have heard this line so many times! It is true that I travel a lot! Lets say about 110 days a year … and last year it was down to 87 days … but it is still quite a bit of traveling by normal standards! Whether I am doing sports production or […]

Chandigarh, the Capitol Complex

April 28, 2017 by chinmayebhave

It is a city of clear blue skies. A planned, ordered Indian city with a surprisingly European feel. Having covered cricket for over 10 years… This was my first chance to be in Mohali and explore Chandigarh. The open hand monument that symbolizes peace and cooperation is the city emblem too. In 2016 the Capitol complex housing important govt buildings was declared a world heritage site and I was eager to experience the aura of Corbusier design. I was quite […]

April 17, 2017 by chinmayebhave

World Heritage : Red Fort

February 13, 2017 by chinmayebhave

Delhi … the political epicentre of this region.. The city has seen many rulers being throned and dethroned … and the cycle continues even in the modern democratic era. If you have the time and patience, the city has a lot to say. It is said that Delhi has the heritage of eight cities… If one includes Surajkund and Indraprastha it would be ten cities. The seat of power has remained on the banks of Yamuna for several centuries but […]

February 12, 2017 by chinmayebhave

February 6, 2017 by chinmayebhave

Business trips are super short. But it’s difficult to not go for a quick tour and explore with at least a phone camera. 3 hours left for the flight, bags packed and ready… Checked out and visited the great Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai… This a short phone photo walk.   Signing off with a yummy uthappam…

Review :

February 5, 2017 by chinmayebhave

Chiplun Mumbai

January 21, 2017 by chinmayebhave

My first stop was at the Parshuram temple in a village named Parshuram on a hilltop near Chiplun. It is said to be a 18th century temple built by Bramhendra Swami. It was nice to enjoy a few quiet moments there. This time I tried alternate route to Kashedi ghat that passes through Natunagar Tulshi Vinhere … The road surface is not very good and one still has to negotiate a narrower ghat so it doesn’t make sense. However, one […]

Mumbai Chiplun

January 20, 2017 by chinmayebhave

Left home around 0530 with tank full and started cruising towards Mumbai Pune express highway via New Mumbai. It was good to beat city traffic and within 35 minutes I was on the express way. Though Chiplun is on Goa highway it’s possible to avoid Pen. When I bought Tata Nano Gen X amt, I was told it’s a good city car but not good on highways. Well that turned out to be a popular myth. It cruises well around […]

Time Machine in Ahmedabad

January 19, 2017 by chinmayebhave

After a very heavy lunch at Agashiye restaurant, I decided to take a stroll in the old Ahmedabad city… I had read about the Bhadra fort but saw the large gate and clock tower for the very first time. Walking across the busy market, it was interesting to see Sidi Syed’s mosque and the Teen darwaja which stood stoicly in the middle of a chaotic bazar. I was lucky to reach Jama Masjid before the afternoon naman and had a […]

Karla Caves

January 18, 2017 by chinmayebhave

Just about 100 ka from Mumbai city in the Kamshet Malavali area, there are various ancient sites that are worth exploring if you are an archeology enthusiast… In this phone blog, sharing a visual essay on Karla caves. These buddhist caves were carved between 2nd century BC and 5th century AD period. Some of the carvings seemed to have Greek influence … Something that I need to check but looks possible since there was lot of trade interaction with Greece […]
